Dr Khavandi was a big HIIT this morning!

Updated: Nov 27, 2018

What a truly fascinating presentation about diet and exercise. Dispelling myths about faddy diets and fashionable food, Dr Ali Khavandi left everyone feeling motivated and reassured. I especially love the fact that he gave us all

permission to eat butter and drink full fat milk and, of course, the recommendation to have a diet rich in fruits and vegetables. Also, encouragement to increase the amount of exercise we do each day. In particular, shorter sessions of high intensity interval training (HIIT) have been shown to be more beneficial than longer more sustained periods of exercise. For example, a 20 minute brisk walk or a bike ride which makes you feel a little breathless and sweaty. Although exercise may not cure you of AF (for some people it can) it will increase your cardiovascular fitness to improve your symptoms.

So, don’t let your AF define who you are but get out there and get active! 💚

You will soon be able to review Monday’s presentation by Dr Khavandi in the meetings section of the website
