AF Aware Week-November 2017.

Some of my fellow-Cardiac Physiologists from RUH, Bath and myself were involved in Atrial Fibrillation Awareness week thanks to sponsorship from the Friends of Frome Hospital.
We taught simple rhythm checks and, using the AliveCor mobile ECG monitor, we reassured 85 Frome residents that they had normal sinus rhythm. This was also a great opportunity to meet the public and explain what AF is.
It's so important to raise awareness of this very common heart rhythm disturbance which is affecting more people each day. Figures are set to double by 2050 and a simple pulse check is all that is needed. Knowing how important it is to have symptoms checked could, literally, save someone from the devastation of having a stroke.
